Carmen Habanera (1995)
Carmen Habanera (1995)
A film miniature set to classical music, inspired by Georges Bizet's "Carmen" suite, orchestrated by Rodion Shchedrin, animated in loose matter (colored salt) directly under the camera by Aleksandra Korejwo. The music is fully synchronized with the image. The sounds of the music awaken Carmen from her sleep. Her silhouette is illuminated by a nearby bonfire. In this expressive dance, elements of Andalusian gypsy folklore (flamenco) choreographically intertwine with the passionate symbolism of Carmen's gestures. It's the second film in a trilogy.
