Privacy Notice

Last updated 30 September 2026.

TView (tview.co.uk) is a small, privately run film and television tracking site. It is run by an individual, not a company, and is not operated for profit. This notice explains what personal data the site holds about you, why, and how long for.

What We Hold and Why

• Your account: username, display name, email address and tier. Used to sign you in and to run the site (contract, or the equivalent for a free service: you asked for an account). Sign-in itself is handled by our authentication provider.
• What you track: your diary, likes and dislikes, Watch Later and other lists, reviews, comments, follows and privacy settings. Used to provide the features you chose to use.
• History you import: when you ask us to import your history from a file or another service, we read it once, keep only the diary entries it produces, and keep no password or credential for that service. For Plex we hold the sign-in token you approve, encrypted and only until the import has been read (an hour at most), then delete it.
• Sessions and devices: a record of the browsers and devices signed in to your account, with the IP address and browser description at sign-in. Used to keep your account secure and to enforce device limits (legitimate interests).
• Support tickets: what you write to us. Used to answer you.
• Security and audit records: a record of sensitive actions (sign-ins, permission changes, exports, deletions) with the IP address and browser description. Used to keep the site secure and to investigate misuse (legitimate interests).
• Film and television data shown on the site comes from public sources (TMDB, TVmaze and others) and is not personal data about you.

Who Else Sees It

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Data is processed on servers we run ourselves. Our email delivery provider receives your address and the content of emails we send you. Content you make public (reviews, public lists, your profile where you allow it) is visible to others according to your privacy settings.

How Long We Keep It

• Account and tracking data: until you delete your account.
• Sessions: until they expire or you sign out.
• Audit records: 90 days, then they are removed automatically.
• Backups: a deleted account can remain in our weekly backups for up to 3 weeks, until the oldest one is replaced. Backups are not used for anything else.
• Older page-view history from the previous version of the site was not carried over and has been discarded.

Your Rights

You can see, download and delete your data yourself, without asking us. Sign in and go to Your Data to download everything we hold about you, or to delete your account. You also have the right to correct your data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

What Deletion Does

Deleting your account permanently removes your diary, likes and dislikes, Watch Later list, follows, sessions, devices, notifications and private lists. Reviews, comments and public lists that other people have seen and replied to are kept but detached from you, so conversations remain readable; they then show as written by a deleted user.

Audit records that mention your account are kept, with your internal user ID but not your name, until their retention period ends. We keep these on the basis of legitimate interests: a security log that could be edited by deleting entries would not be a reliable log. Your sign-in account with our identity provider is removed separately by an administrator after you delete your TView account.
