A spectacular attack on a prisoner transport presents Tom and Semir with a mystery: Why did not all the prisoners escape, and why did Mitscherlich, of all people, run away, when he only had a few months left to serve? Detective Jörg Halbert is supposed to help Tom and Semir with the investigation. Meanwhile, gangster Gunnar Schroth, who ordered the attack on the prisoner transport, gets a nasty surprise: his two henchmen Brisco and Goover have freed the wrong man! Schroth's brother Manfred was not even in the transport. Schroth has fallen for misinformation that he received from an informant in the police ranks, and which costs Mitscherlich his life. The mole is Jörg Halbert, who finds things too hot after finding Mitscherlich's body and wants to get out. Schroth cannot allow that: In order to put pressure on Halbert, his son Peter is kidnapped.
