Phyllis fears that if Gail brings a young kid to help with sandwich round she'll be pushed out. Jack gets a cheque for £600 from Vera's insurance and promises Terry a bottle of whisky if he keeps the news of his cheque from Vera. The problem with the plan is that Jack doesn't have a bank account so he can't cash the cheque and Alec refuses to cash it for him. Ken is horrified when Mike tells him he is dropping the libel case as Deirdre talked him out of it. Ken accuses Deirdre of making him look a fool and suspects Deirdre flirted with Mike to win him round.
