Kevin enjoys himself at the auction, but Mark is furious when Kevin buys all the best equipment at rock bottom prices. Ivy rows with Vera at Bettabuy when Vera insinuates that her marriage is on the rocks. Ivy discovers Don took the day off yesterday and she wants to know why he lied to her when she finds racing tickets in his pocket. She accuses him of being addicted to gambling and he tells her he's tired of being 'good old Don' and doesn't care what she thinks. Victoria writes to Alec saying she's spending Christmas with a friend, but Alec demands that Victoria spends Christmas at the Rovers. Victoria talks Alec round by saying her friend's dad is a posh doctor.
