While riding a monorail to the bay coast, Conan and Kogoro witness another rider being shot and injured by a sniper. The monorail makes an emergency stop, and the two of them track down the culprit, eventually arriving at the apartment believed to be the shooting location. They don't find the culprit there, but a forensics team determines that the shot was indeed fired from that room, which is also the scene of another murder.
