After chatting in front of the ruined building where Western Confections Paradise plans to build its new factory, Genta, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi discover a right hand emerging from some concrete debris. The three of them faint, and when Conan discovers them and hears what happened to them, he finds a trail of blood leading elsewhere. They believe the person whose hand they saw is alive and must have gone somewhere. They follow the trail to the Western Confections Paradise store, where they recall having a conversation a week earlier.
