Michelle's preparing to move into No.12 with Ryan. Norris, still annoyed over the graffiti incident, isn't pleased. Sean's hurt when Jamie assumes that he must have phoned Danny and told him about Jamie and Frankie splitting up. Liz quits smoking for Vernon until she finds out the truth that the candles and champagne were intended for Michelle and put there by Steve. Eileen goes to work leaving Jason to look after Holly. He threatens to call social services but bottles out when he sees Holly looking at him. After a ticking off from Violet,

Liam tells Jamie that Danny's been on the phone and told him he's sold his 60% of the factory. Liam wants to know who his new partner is but Jamie's none the wiser. Violet's taken to hospital in an ambulance. Eileen, Sean and Jamie go with her. Paul winds Liam up, speculating about who Danny might have sold the factory to. Roger the plumber turns up at Janice's flat to fix her broken boiler. Janice fancies him. Jason arrives home with Holly to find the house empty. Holly starts crying and in desperation Jason calls Sarah for advice.

Janice is secretly pleased when her boiler breaks down again giving her an excuse to call Roger the plumber back. The consultant explains to Violet and Jamie that she's had an ectopic pregnancy. Violet realises she may never be able to have children. As Jason struggles to look after Holly, Sarah explains to him that although having children is hard work it's worth it for the joy they bring. Jason's not convinced. Liam's shocked to discover that Paul's his new partner having bought Danny out of his share of Underworld. Paul admits it cost him a lot of money including the £12,000 he'd put aside for Carla's new business. Whilst Roger mends Janice's boiler, Janice pops out to get them fish and chips and a bottle of wine but she's disappointed to return home and finds he's already gone.

Carla's still fuming with Paul for spending the £12,000 they'd put aside for her business. Janice is smitten with Roger the plumber. The factory girls take the mickey. Tracy says she's banged her head. Deirdre confides in Claire that she's worried Charlie might be beating her up. Michelle moves into No.12 and gets Paul and Liam to help her. Jason spends another stressful day looking after Holly. Sarah shows him how to wind the baby. With the brothers out of the way, Carla nips into the factory and gets Kelly to start sewing kids' dungarees for her new business. Roger tells Janice he's got a three month building and plumbing job in France. He asks her to go with him.

Michelle arranges to go for lunch at Sonny's house. She's worried he might go off her when he finds out she's got a son. Sarah invites Jason round and to Jason's delight suggests they get back together. Sarah wants them to put Bethany and Holly first as a family of four. Tracy puts on some frumpy clothes and pretends to Claire that Charlie's banned her from wearing anything that might attract other men. Ken tells Deirdre and Blanche he's had an email from Peter and he's coming to stay for a few days. It's agreed that Peter can sort out the Charlie situation. Steve drives Ryan over to Sonny's house hoping to scupper Michelle's relationship when Sonny finds out about Ryan. Janice leaves for France with Roger.

Peter arrives from Portsmouth. Ken and Deirdre persuade him to stay with Tracy so he can keep an eye on her. Vernon's trying to shirk his duties of writing quiz questions, and cons Steve and Michelle into writing him a couple of rounds. Jason continues to adapt to fatherhood, struggling with nappies. Carla gets Kelly to work her lunch and during breaks on her new dungarees.

Charlie bursts into the bedroom, beating and pummelling Peter. The fight breaks out into the street. The noise interrupts the quiz and people pour into the street. Charlie is eventually pulled off Peter by Ken. Charlie is fuming and goes back inside followed by Tracy. Peter is taken to hospital. Teams return to the quiz, but it's clear to Becky that Norris has copied their answers during the commotion outside. Steve and Michelle continue to snipe across the bar. Tracy tries to persuade Charlie it was all a misunderstanding, but he can't see through his anger. When he goes for a drink he's met with a frosty reception.

Charlie wakes in the cells, while the Barlows try to work out how to help Tracy. Steve tries to probe Ryan for information on Sonny, but Michelle tells him to back off. Paul tries to persuade Carla to stop winding Liam up in the factory. Tracy fails to broker peace when Deirdre brings her round to speak to Peter. Liam tries to tell Carla to back off in the factory, but ends up just asking her not to use his desk. Carla later returns with a new desk, and Liam's stuck what to do with her. Charlie comes to apologise to Peter, but nobody wants to hear his side of it. Rob comes into the cafe for a custard slice and Becky invites him out for a drink.

After last night Charlie's taking no chances. He tells a clearly scared Tracy that by the time he comes back from court that afternoon he wants her out of the house. The Barlows prepare for court, but Ken doubts that Charlie will be locked up. Roy is rushed off his feet at the cafe, as Becky hasn't turned up after her date. When Rob finally drops her off he gives her the impression he won't call again. Becky's clearly upset but puts a brave face on things. Tracy's genuinely upset at being told to get out. When Charlie leaves for court, Claire comes round to see her. Seeing what Charlie has reduced her to, crying to Claire, Tracy's nerve is strengthened and Claire is left thinking that she'll leave him.

A stunned Charlie tries to get up, but falls to his knees. Tracy comes down hard again with the ornament. She grabs a knife from the kitchen and comes for Charlie. The noise from No.6 causes Claire to rush to No.1 for help. Deirdre, Peter and Ken knock on the door causing Tracy to rethink her actions. She places the knife in Charlie's hand and cuts herself with it. As the commotion begins to build outside, Peter threatens to break the door down. Tracy strews her clothes everywhere and makes it look like a struggle has taken place. She phones 999 and opens the door just as Peter is about to break in, saying she thinks she's killed Charlie. As the police and an ambulance arrive, people start to collect on the street and the rumour that Charlie is dead starts to circulate.

Tracy wants to find out whether Charlie is alive or not but the police refuse to tell her. Steve's feeling guilty about leaving Amy in the house with Charlie. Tracy gives the police the same story she gave to her family, of self-defence. She appears to be worried for Charlie, rushing through the interview. There is still an atmosphere between Kelly and Becky as Becky announces she has another date with Rob. Kelly sees Rob later and tells him of Becky's past. Jason's stayed up with Charlie all night. Sarah persuades him to go home for a while, and come back later. Tracy's released from the police station but told not to go near Charlie or speak to any potential witnesses. Clearly worried about whether Charlie will wake up, she wants to see him in hospital.

Charlie's in a coma in Intensive Care. Tracy wishes fervently that he'd die as she's worried sick he'll recover and tell everyone how she tried to murder him. The police call at No.4 and question Claire about Charlie and Tracy's relationship. Claire shows them her diary painting Charlie as an evil bully and Tracy his victim. Fiz is concerned that Chesney's not being looked after properly by Les. Jason sits by Charlie's bedside wishing his mate would gain consciousness. Michelle's excited she's got a date with Sonny. Steve's quietly jealous.

Jason and Maria are shocked when they realise that Charlie's dead. Bill Webster returns. Rosie and Sophie are pleased to see him. Amber quizzes Dev about his relationship with Tracy. She's intrigued to hear how Tracy cut up his clothes. Ken breaks the news to Tracy that Charlie's dead. Tracy's hugely relieved but covers pretending to be upset and saying how much she loved him. Fiz is furious with Les for not looking after Chesney properly. Les tries to win Chesney's support but even Chesney admits he wishes he'd gone with Cilla. Michelle and Sonny are snogging on the sofa when the doorbell rings. Michelle's unimpressed when Paul and Carla barge their way into the flat and even more annoyed to discover Steve told them she was entertaining Sonny.

Deirdre's overwrought worrying about Tracy who's spent the night in prison. She's cross with Ken for being so calm and rational.Chesney's sick of living in squalor and sets about the housework. He hoovers round and does the washing whilst Les sits on his backside. Bill tells Kevin and Sally that Maureen's thrown him out, his marriage is over and he wants to stay for a couple days while he finds his feet. Jason sits in the builder's yard distraught. He's convinced Tracy murdered his mate. Ken, Deirdre, Peter and Blanche attend Tracy's court hearing. They're shocked when Tracy's refused bail and sent back to prison. Sarah helps Jason by phoning round Charlie's customers.

Deirdre's consumed with guilt that she didn't put a stop to Tracy and Charlie's relationship. She blames Ken for stopping her from wading in. Jason persuades Sarah to look after Holly for the day in the salon while he goes to work. Gail's disapproving. Claire tells Deirdre she's organising a petition in support of Tracy. Carla gets the factory girls to stop sewing knickers and sew kids' dungarees instead. Liam's furious but tries to cover, pretending he gave her permission. Fiz moves Chesney into the salon flat with her and Maria, but Maria refuses to let Schmeichel move in too. Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison.

Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison. They learn that the new solicitor will have to be paid for. Ken tries to reason with Tracy but Deirdre takes her daughter's side. Les makes a half-hearted attempt at some housework and asks Kirk to try and persuade Fiz to let Chesney move back home. The Barlows argue over how they're going to finance Tracy's new solicitor. Adam offers to use his money from the sale of the factory but Ken won't hear of it. Audrey picks Bill up from No.13 together with all his belongings. Sally and Gail look on disapprovingly.

Fiz reassures Maria that Chesney will be moving back in to No.5 as Cilla's due home and he can't stay at their flat full-time. Chesney overhears their conversation. Les and Kirk tidy the house for Cilla's homecoming. Kirk brushes Schmeichel. Ken and Deirdre hire the hotshot solicitor for Tracy. They're shocked to discover it will cost them about £100,000 to wholly fund her defence. They agree to raise the money by releasing the equity in the house. Cilla returns to find everyone hostile towards her. They're aggrieved that she pretended to have terminal cancer and ripped them off for a holiday in Florida. Les and Cilla are reunited although Cilla makes it clear she's still not forgiven him. Jason begs Sarah to look after Holly while he carries on with work at the builder's yard.

Ken and Deirdre set the wheels in motion to release the equity from their house. Chesney's on the run with Schmeichel. He's cold and hungry. Carla persuades Kelly and Joanne to agree to some more overtime making dungarees for her new business. Under pressure from Fiz, Cilla reports Chesney missing. Les, Fiz and Kirk go in search of him and Schmeichel. Ken and Deirdre row over Tracy. Deirdre accuses Ken of resenting the fact they've got to spend their life savings on Tracy's legal fees.

Claire gets people to sign a 30th birthday card for Tracy. Sarah refuses. Fiz sets about mothering Chesney as she prepares his packed lunch. Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison on her birthday. They tell her that Jason's organising Charlie's funeral. Norris continues to look up old school friends on the internet. When Rita tells him how she used to be pals with Charlie Roscoe's Exotic Dancers, Norris does some research for her and finds an email address for Doreen Fenwick. Maria and David make up their minds to attend Charlie's funeral.

Kelly fancies Liam and reckons that he'll be her boyfriend soon, but Joanne's not so sure. Fiz is worn out with looking after Chesney although she's doing a great job. Becky arrives late at the cafe having had her coat stolen at the hostel. Roy suggests she should move into a flat but Becky points out she can't afford to. Carla's put out when Paul insists on accompanying Liam on a business dinner rather than taking her out for their eighth wedding anniversary. Sarah, Jason, Maria, David and a couple of Charlie's drinking pals attend Charlie's funeral. Everyone's shocked when Tracy arrives accompanied by prison guards.

Paul's hung-over and Carla's still annoyed with him for neglecting her on their anniversary. David apologises to Maria but he's still hurt, especially when she tells him that she'd never fancy him and the world doesn't revolve around him. Carla insists Paul takes her out for a drink and invites Liam, Kelly and Joanne along too. A customer calls in the builder's yard and gives Jason £1,500 in cash to settle an old invoice which Charlie was chasing him for. David drops a bombshell in the salon in front of Blanche, Audrey and Maria. He tells them how Charlie tried to drown him in the bath. Les persuades Kirk and Chesney to have a kick about on the street.

Les persuades Chesney to call in for lunch. Les tells Cilla she needs to make more of an effort if she wants Chesney to move back home. Gail questions David closely about his claim that he saw Tracy murder Charlie in self-defence. She hopes he'll say he made it all up but on the contrary, David insists he's telling the truth. Roy and Hayley donate a pile of junk to Becky's flat fund. Hayley persuades Liam to let her have some factory seconds too.

Joanne's nervous about getting into a relationship with her boss, but Liam's very persuasive and she finds it impossible to resist. Jodie Morton explains to Jason how they'd booked Charlie to refit the old baker's shop out as a chippy for her and her family. She persuades Jason to do it instead. Tracy searches frantically for David, desperate to find out what he saw. Audrey tells her David's at the police station giving them all the details. David tells the police how Charlie went for Tracy with a knife and she hit him over the head with an ornament in self-defence.

Deirdre hugs David and thanks him for telling the police what he saw. David starts to realise just how important his web of lies is to Tracy. Jason starts work on the new chip shop. Eileen's worried about him trying to run the builder's yard on his own. Roy and Hayley buy an old Morris Traveller with the proceeds of the comics. Becky begrudgingly agrees to meet up with Slug for a drink. Against Ken and Deirdre's better judgement, Tracy insists on letting herself into No.6 to retrieve some of her belongings. David quietly follows her in and watches her pocketing Charlie's watch.

Roy and Hayley gaze admiringly at their car. Becky's unimpressed. Fiz is starting to get on Chesney's nerves with her mothering strategy. Joanne feels that she and Adam are drifting apart. However, she's put out when Liam snaps at her for being late in front of the factory girls. Jason's struggling with the chip shop refit and could do with some help. Claire gives Tracy some leaflets on domestic abuse cases. Tracy feigns interest. Carla's annoyed when her customer demands some changes to the dungarees she's produced.

Hung-over, Becky wakes up and finds herself in Roy and Hayley's car in the middle of nowhere. She feels guilty and rows with Slug who drives off without her. Ken, Deirdre and Blanche are furious at Tracy's behaviour, especially when she admits she picked up a guy and spent the night with him. Roy and Hayley are upset to discover their car's been stolen. Jason continues to struggle with work and trying to look after Holly. Joanne finishes with Adam by text. Liam continues to flirt with her. Becky arrives at the cafe late for work. Roy gets a call from the police to say they've found the car. To Becky's horror, they discover her coat on the back seat. It's Sarah's birthday.

Cilla gets a letter from Chesney's headmaster saying he wants to see her. Michelle turns up for work wearing her new diamond watch which Sonny bought her. Steve's jealous and can't help making snide remarks about Sonny's wealth. Doreen Fenwick arrives on the street looking for Rita. She irritates Norris by making a nuisance of herself in The Kabin, flirting with the male customers. Steve offers Jamie a job as a driver for Street Cars. Steve's jealousy for Sonny boils over when Sonny tries to pay for a drink with a £50 note. He accuses Michelle of being a gold-digger and immediately regrets it.

Sean demands an explanation from Sonny. Rita and Doreen reminisce about their days as dancing girls. With Blanche voicing disdain at her behaviour, Tracy finds a sympathetic ear in Steve.

Blanche sabotages Tracy's date but, in doing so, brings her closer to Steve. Sean's friends are puzzled as to what is the matter with him. Jason lets Sarah down when he cannot handle the pressure of Jodie's demands.

Joanne finally snaps and stuns Kelly with the revelation of her relationship with Liam. Sarah intervenes to ensure that Jason accepts Bill's help with the bakery job. Tracy asks Steve to help her organise Amy's birthday party.

Fiz is struggling to find enough money to provide for Chesney, and when Cilla refuses to give her any, she takes action. Steve and Tracy grow closer during Amy's birthday celebrations. Norris disapproves of Rita and Doreen's fun.

Eileen pretends to work on her day off so that Jason will have to look after Holly. Steve is keen to forget his liaison with Tracy. Rita is suffering from a severe hangover after a night out with Doreen.

Jason panics when he cannot find Holly anywhere. Chesney pays a secret visit to Les and Cilla's house. Steve is pleased when he senses that Michelle is jealous of Tracy.

Jason's anonymous phone call leads to an impromptu investigation by the social worker, and Eileen is incensed that they have been reported. Sophie ensures that Norris receives a Valentine's Day card. Chesney lies to Fiz and spends another lunchtime with Cilla.

Becky is hurt when Hayley firmly rejects her peace offering. Sally is astonished to realise that Norris is flirting with her. Fiz finds out that Chesney has lied to her. Eileen and Claire come to a mutually satisfactory job and childcare arrangement.

Roy and Hayley come to terms with the damage wrought by the fire, and rue the day they put their trust in Becky. Carla and Paul row when he fails to take her business deal seriously. Fiz is missing Chesney. Molly receives a job offer.

Tracy's solicitor gives David a grilling in preparation for the trial, leaving him with doubts about taking the stand. Hayley tries to redeem Becky's reputation. Molly skips work at the kennels to attend an interview at the Corner Shop.

Terrified at the thought of losing his testimony, Tracy makes David a rash promise which he is only too happy to exploit. Despite Amber's interference, Molly and Dev come to an arrangement. Claire asks Ashley to help her prepare for her volunteer work.

The Barlows get a shock when the court rules that they are not eligible to receive legal aid for Tracy's defence. Hayley goes in search of Becky in the hope of a reconciliation. Jack offers Vernon some tips on how to dodge his cellarman duties.

The Streetcars lads' night out throws up some interesting surprises for Sean and Steve. Tyrone acquires a metal detector, while Kirk gives Fiz an ant farm. Carla realises she has made a costly error with her children's clothes business.

Sean cannot conceal the news of his illicit kiss from his friends, but only a smug Steve knows the identity of his conquest. Rita celebrates her birthday with Doreen, much to Norris' chagrin. Molly, Tyrone, Fiz and Kirk set out with the metal detector in search of buried treasure.

Chesney's metal-detecting unearths an unexploded bomb in the Peacocks' back garden. Jamie allows Sean to meet with Sonny at Number 7 so that they can clear the air. The residents are evacuated to the Community Centre.

While the residents continue to await the all-clear, the bomb disposal unit executes a controlled explosion. Sonny and Sean have to lie brazenly in order to keep their rendezvous a secret. Becky introduces Carla to Kasia, a new recruit to the factory evening shifts.

Eileen is pleased when Jason starts to show signs of affection for Holly. The factory staff discover that the night workers have been touching their belongings. Michelle is curious when Sonny asks her out for lunch so that they can discuss things.

Sonny takes Michelle's breath away when he reveals the reason for their special lunch date. Jamie is taken by surprise when he is called to pick up an old flame from the station. A new worker at Underworld has the workers fearing for their jobs.

Michelle confronts Sean in an attempt to banish any doubts she may have about Sonny following Steve's outburst. Leanne surprises Les with her return. Rita resolves to spend more time with her long-standing friends.

Liam learns of Steve's story and demands the truth from Sean. Leanne gets Janice's permission to break into her flat. Claire continues to provide support when Casey rings in distress once again.

Sean reluctantly confesses all to an incredulous Michelle. Norris looks forward to his birthday dinner with Rita. David tells Tracy he cannot wait until after the trial for his reward. Leanne resists Liam's attempt to ask her out.

Tracy borrows the keys to Charlie's flat and meets David there, unaware that she has been seen. Liz intervenes when Michelle and Sean struggle to work together. Leanne offers to buy Number 7 from the landlord and keep Jamie on as tenant.

Michelle tells Ryan of her split from Sonny. Sarah demands that Tracy explain her clandestine meetings with David. Vernon pushes his luck with Steve and Liz, having not been home all night and failing to turn in for work.

Deirdre overhears Tracy and David talking and decides to investigate. Carla is puzzled by Paul's tetchy demeanour. Sonny calls at Number 11 and finds Sean less than welcoming. Amber teases Dev about his waning sex appeal.

Paul sacks Sean upon hearing him discussing Michelle, and the rest of the workforce decide to hold a strike in sympathy. The Barlows attend Tracy's plea hearing. Janice arrives back in Weatherfield.

Liam does his best to keep Paul's secret but Carla demands to know the truth. Deirdre's doubts about Tracy's honesty continue to grow. Liz enjoys the company of Derek the drayman over a drink. Janice and Leanne catch up on each other's news.

Tracy's attitude towards her barrister leads Deirdre to confide her misgivings to Ken. Liz arranges a date with Derek. Carla and Liam await news of Paul. Peter persuades Maria to give him a haircut.

On the eve of the trial, Deirdre and Tracy spend the evening together, during which long-held resentments surface as bitter recriminations are exchanged. Will Tracy resort to telling her mother the truth about Charlie's murder and persuade her to testify in court?

The trial gets underway, and Jason, Maria and Peter give their evidence. Deirdre is in turmoil and cannot decide if she should lie to save Tracy. Jerry arranges for Kayleigh to move back in with her mother.

Tracy feels the pressure as she takes the stand to defend herself. Janice follows Leanne to a meeting with a client. Claire determinedly enters the witness box to testify. Teresa arrives to collect Kayleigh.

Deirdre's nerves get the better of her as she prepares to commit perjury for Tracy. David's confident display in court does not fool the prosecution. Janice is less than welcoming when two new foreign workers join the Underworld staff.

Tracy refuses to forgive Deirdre for her disastrous showing in court. Claire leaves Freddie with Casey while she takes Joshua to hospital. Molly and Amber make fun of Dev's newfound passion for all things golf.

Tracy and her family return to the courtroom with their hearts in their mouths as the jury delivers its verdict. Liam agrees to pay Leanne for the information from her survey. Jerry is concerned that Teresa is not looking after Kayleigh.

The Barlows face up to life without Tracy, while Steve wonders how to break the news of her imprisonment to Amy. Hayley challenges Joanne about her bullying of the foreign workers and receives a startling confession. Darryl and Mel plan their eighteenth birthday party.

The police turn up at Underworld having received information that there are illegal immigrants among the staff. Michelle offers Steve some encouragement as he faces the future as a full-time single parent. Jerry gets suspicious when Kayleigh pays a visit.

Ken and Deirdre visit Tracy in prison. Hayley orders Janice to confess to calling the immigration authorities. Bill decides to buy the builders' yard and asks Kevin to invest.

Eileen gets a shock when Holly's mother turns up on her doorstep. Kayleigh is caught shoplifting in the Corner Shop. Ken finds it impossible to say the right thing to a hostile Deirdre.

Eileen refuses to hand over Holly, and sends Emma on her way. Jerry collects Kayleigh and Finlay's belongings and insists the pair stay at Number 6. Steve and Dev enjoy another round of golf with Paul.

Darryl and Mel celebrate their eighteenth birthday with a lively party at Number 6. Eileen receives a visit from the social worker. Joanne makes a surprise return to Underworld. Liz instructs Vernon to find some work.

Jason struggles to come to terms with his feelings towards Holly in light of Eileen's revelation. Liz is in for a surprise when Vernon appears to be a changed man. Bill's offer for the builder's yard is accepted.

Eileen is adamant that Holly should stay at Number 11, but Jason is happy for Emma to take her back. Carla organises an all-night shift at Underworld so as to meet her order's deadline. Vernon fails to turn up for a dinner date with Liz.

As the all-night shift comes to an end, a tragic accident lands the Connors in big trouble. Vernon is contrite about missing his date with Liz. Eileen fails to persuade Jason to join the fight for Holly.

Paul lies to the police about the circumstances of Kasia's death in order to protect Carla. Teresa turns up at Jerry's demanding the return of her belongings. Gail feels helpless when David does not go to school.

Gail notifies the police of David's disappearance, little knowing he is lurking nearby. Sarah remains determined to enjoy her wedding and keeps tight-lipped about the note. Leanne and Paul prepare to host their biggest function at the restaurant to date.

Jason insists on cutting short the honeymoon and returning to Weatherfield with Sarah. Liz is disappointed by Steve's attempt to throw her a fiftieth birthday party. Carla is amused to meet Ozzy upon her return.

Sarah and Jason's continued bickering over David raises eyebrows. Rosie cries off Sophie's birthday outing and invites John round. Jerry returns home to an underwhelming welcome from his family.

Sally tires of the lack of support from her family and decides to declare her feelings to John. Sarah asks Jason to take her wedding dress to be cleaned. Jodie makes it clear to Jerry that she is taking the night off from childcare duties.

John is stunned by Sally's confession and confides in Rosie. Jason panics upon realising that Sarah's dress has vanished. Jodie and Lloyd's date at the firework display is hampered by Jerry.

Violet learns of Sean's betrayal. Sarah resigns from the salon when Audrey agrees that David can return to work. Jodie spends the day looking after Finlay. Sally buys John a present to thank him for his understanding.

Violet seethes with rage as she tries to make Sean see that he is robbing her of the joys of pregnancy. Lloyd braces himself to deliver bad tidings to Jodie. Fiz asks John to move in with her. Sarah returns to work in order to save money for a house.

Violet and Jamie's affection for one another does not go unnoticed by Michelle. Jerry struggles to cope without Jodie's support. John is unable to assert his authority with Rosie at school. Jason and Sarah share a romantic evening.

Violet and Jamie discuss the prospect of reviving their relationship. Sean confides in Marcus that he wants to be a father to his baby. Lloyd encourages Claire to start dating.

Liz hires a stripper to ensure that her hen night is a suitably raucous affair. Carla stuns Maria with the revelation that she kissed Liam. Sarah delights in the downturn in David's fortunes. Rosie and John spend the night at a hotel.

Rosie tells John that she wants a proper relationship. Steve makes Michelle see that she must find out the truth about Ryan. Liam berates a defiant Carla for telling Maria about their kiss.

Nick begs Michelle to agree to a DNA test and resolve the question of Ryan's parentage. John attempts to end his relationship with Fiz. Stephen offers the job in Milan to Sarah.

As John slips out to see Rosie, Fiz gets a shock when she opens her present. Sarah tries to convince Jason that they should move to Italy. Chesney and Kirk join Roy and Becky for Christmas dinner at the café.

Rosie remains defiant in the face of Sally's recriminations. Sarah astounds her family with the announcement of her plan to emigrate to Italy. Jim is intrigued when Steve lets slip about Liz's affair.

As Sarah and Jason go for a farewell drink at the Rovers, David vows to ruin their plans. Steve struggles to comfort Michelle. Jim offers to relieve Vernon of his baby-sitting duties. Kevin frets about the consequences of his attack on John.

Sarah astonishes Jason with a confession as they embark upon their journey towards a new life. Liz enjoys Jim's company during the final preparations for her wedding. Rosie is shunned by her family.

Liz is having second thoughts about marrying Vernon when she bumps into Jim outside the Rovers. David makes Gail feel guilty for believing Sarah's lies about the drugs. Jason struggles to come to terms with his wife's departure.

Deirdre informs the guests that the wedding has been cancelled but Liz decides to go ahead with the ceremony. Eileen and Becky attempt to cheer up Jason. Carla mocks Liam's romantic abilities.

Charlie tells a clearly scared Tracy that by the time he comes back from court that afternoon he wants her out of the house. The Barlows prepare for court, but Ken doubts that Charlie will be locked up. When Charlie leaves for court, Claire comes round to see her. Tracy's nerve is strengthened and Claire is left thinking that she'll leave him. Charlie returns from court, having only been given community service. He's menacing to Tracy, and plays his music loud acting like the lord of the manor. Tracy doesn't want to leave, so Charlie packs her bags for her. With a plan forming, Tracy tries to get Charlie to kneel and propose to her. Charlie laughs her off and goes to get her bags. In a last attempt to get Charlie into position, Tracy gets him to sit for a lap dance. Charlie's intrigued and sits to watch the show. With the music loud, and Charlie in position, Tracy picks up an ornament and smashes it across his head, but the first hit fails to kill him.

A stunned Charlie tries to get up, but falls to his knees. Tracy comes down hard again with the ornament. She grabs a knife from the kitchen and comes for Charlie. Deirdre, Peter and Ken knock on the door causing Tracy to rethink her actions. She places the knife in Charlie's hand and cuts herself with it. Tracy strews her clothes everywhere and makes it look like a struggle has taken place. She phones 999 and opens the door just as Peter is about to break in, saying she thinks she's killed Charlie. As the police and an ambulance arrive, people start to collect on the Street and the rumour that Charlie is dead starts to circulate. Tracy tells her family that Charlie came at her with a knife when she told him she was leaving. Trying to claim self defence, she wonders whether the second hit will harm her defence. The paramedics discover a pulse on Charlie. The police take Tracy in for questioning, as Charlie is brought out on a stretcher. Tracy can't believe that Charlie is still alive.

Deirdre and Tracy sit in the Barlows' living room the night before the trial. Neither of them can sleep. Deirdre voices her suspicions about Tracy and questions how truthful she's been about Charlie's murder. All the pent-up emotion of the last few weeks comes tumbling out. Upset and overwrought, Deirdre blames Tracy for Samir's death whilst Tracy blames her mother for the way she turned out. Deirdre tells Tracy that whatever she's done she will stand by her as she loves her but she needs to know the truth. Eventually Tracy cracks and confesses everything. Deirdre's shocked as Tracy tells her how she planned Charlie's murder months ago and staged the entire performance. Although stunned and disgusted at what Tracy's done, Deirdre promises she'll still stand by her daughter.

Claire is still lying at the bottom of the stairs as the fire rages in the Peacocks' house. Liz and Derek are at his brother-in-law's flat. Kirk bursts into tears at the takeaway over losing Fiz. Jamie has to look after him. Roy and Hayley have spotted the smoke coming from the Peacocks'. Everyone in the Rovers finds out about the fire and piles out onto the Street. Jamie and Kirk kick the front door down. Everyone is trying to work out if the Peacocks have gone away or not. Kirk finds Claire. Jamie and Kirk carry Claire out of the house. Eileen explains that Freddie is also inside. Jerry runs into to try and save him. Roy also runs into the burning house. The fire brigade arrives. The firefighters search for Freddie. The paramedics attend to Claire. They take her to hospital. Deirdre goes to Denise's flat to see Ken. Deirdre tells him she wants him back. He tells her that he has to spend sometime with Daniel. They end up arguing. Jerry is distraught that he couldn't get to Freddie. Ei

Paul phones Liam and tells him to meet him at the flat where all will be revealed. Paul drives like a maniac with Leanne locked in the boot. Carla arrives at the Rovers in tears. She's drunk and upset and tells Michelle that she and Paul are over for good. Janice gets a call from Leanne, however the signal breaks up. Janice tells Liam that she thinks Leanne said that she is in Paul's car. Paul crashes the car into a parked lorry with Leanne still trapped in the boot. Janice and Liam set off in search of Paul and Leanne. They're horrified when they come across the crash and realise it's Paul's car. The fire brigade cut Paul free from the wreckage and get Leanne out of the boot. Both are rushed to hospital. Sarah asks Gail if Jason can move in permanently. Gail refuses and Sarah realises David's already spoken to her. Sarah and David fight on the sofa. Ken calls in to the pub to see Amy. Deirdre grabs the chance to speak to him but he doesn't stay long. Deirdre's disappointed. Liam, Jani

Steve's hung-over. He sees Eileen lying next to him and panics that they might have had sex, although he has no memory of it. Eileen enjoys winding him up. Roger confides in Janice that unless Leanne starts to pay him back he'll have nowhere to live as he's already behind on the rent. Claire overhears Blanche, Norris and Emily gossiping about the fire. She gets upset assuming they suspect her of starting it. Ashley tries to calm her down. Steve chats up a woman called Shania in a bar. Eileen realises Shania is a transvestite but keeps it to herself. Sarah lays down the law with Jason insisting they go ahead and book the church even though they can't get hold of Eileen. Whilst Eileen sings "The Winner Takes it All" on the karaoke, Steve slips off back to the hotel room with Shania. When John calls round to No.13 to give Sally her English lesson, Sophie hangs around dolled-up to the nines. Claire's making an effort and tells Ashley he deserves an evening in the Rovers. David arranges to meet Mel at the cinema. Amber's put out and tells Sarah about his date. Paul takes Molly flat-hunting and offers to buy a present for Jack to give Vera on their 50th wedding anniversary. Cilla's working as a cleaner in the nursing home. She's rude to one of the residents, Frank Nichols. Liza the manager reprimands her. Sally, Kevin, Rosie and Sophie leave for their holiday in Greece. Sarah scuppers David's date with Mel. She tells Mel how David's got a crush on her and how he's a bit of a psycho. Mel's grateful for the warning. David waits at the cinema for Mel but soon realises he's been stood up. Cilla discovers Frank Nichols is very wealthy. She starts being lovely to him and makes sure she reveals her stockings when she's cleaning the window. Audrey tries to talk to Ashley again and warns him off Casey but Ashley closes the door on her. Jack gets out some cash to give to Paul. Cilla and Frank enjoy being rude to each other in the nursing home. Cilla makes sure she shows plenty of thigh. Frank offers her the job of being his full-time carer. Jerry invites Eileen out on a date. After mulling it over Eileen suggests they go to the Italian on Wednesday. Sarah gleefully tells Jason about David's public humiliation. Jason feels a bit sorry for him. David's hatred for his family is heightened when he overhears Gail, Audrey and Sarah discussing his lack of love life and questioning his sexuality. Paul secretly makes a phone call and orders a driving licence in the name of "Jack Duckworth". Jason sees David on the factory roof. Jason goes up to talk to him. David scares him by telling him how he could shoot his family from there if he had a gun.

Cilla is packing for Las Vegas and leaving tonight. Chesney is upset that she's going so soon. Cilla gives Kirk £1,000 each for Chesney and Fiz. Cilla and Chesney keep pretending that Les will be back soon. Leanne is thrilled with a review of the restaurant but feels deflated when Roger mentions the loan again. Cilla tells Chesney that she'll send for him but he knows she won't. Cilla buys everyone's drinks in the Rovers. Fiz discovers Cilla's plan and storms into the Rovers to give her some home truths but Cilla doesn't care. Cilla strops out and takes the money she was leaving for Fiz. Janice accuses Roger of only sticking around until he gets his money. Roger tells her she's wrong. They make up. Cilla leaves, she is upset to leave Chesney. She says Chesney will be better without her. Kirk comforts Chesney.

Fiz is annoyed when John says he's arranged another English lesson with Sally that evening, so they can't go out. Rosie throws a sickie as she can't face Liam at the factory. Liam tells Sally about Rosie's crush and how he may have been a bit harsh with her. Roy and Hayley arrive back from their camping trip at the Lakes. They've sorted out their differences and have decided to sign up for a charity project in Africa. Roger fits a new boiler at the takeaway for Jodie. Jodie finds out from Jerry that he's free to go if he pays a hefty fine. Sally talks to Rosie about her crush on Liam saying he's too old for her. Maria then has a go at Rosie for failing to pass on her message. She leaves the café in tears. Roy tells Becky he wants to make amends with Christian and would like her to act as a go-between. David's spent the night in his car parked on some wasteland. Gail's worried about David and phones the police to report him missing. David climbs up on to the factory roof to watch the proceedings at the Platts'. He's pleased to see the police pull up outside. Sarah's insistent that David's not going to spoil her wedding as she sets off for church. David watches his family leave for the wedding. He's furious they're still going ahead despite his disappearance and the suicide note. David drives to the canal and parks up. He leaves a message on the answerphone at No.8 saying he's going to kill himself. David drives his car into the canal. A shocked passer-by phones the police. Sarah and Jason's wedding is in full swing when the police arrive at the church. They tell Gail that David's car has been found in the canal and they're looking for his body. Gail leaves the church beside herself with worry. Sarah's still convinced that David's just trying to ruin her wedding and insists the vicar

Christmas Day: Ryan helps Amy to unwrap her presents, watched by Steve and Michelle. David tells Gail he already has the DVD that she bought him. Fiz finds a present hidden under the bed - she puts it under the tree. Audrey and Bill arrive at the Websters', Bill and Kevin plan an escape to the Rovers. Rosie uses the pub as an excuse to get out of the house to see John. Kirk and Chesney follow Becky into Roy's Rolls. They bring their new skateboards, a Yule log and a burnt joint of beef. Becky feels proud as she gives a card to Roy. Jason tells Sarah he agrees they should go to Italy. David is suspicious. John sneaks out of the flat to meet Rosie he takes a present from under the tree. Rosie insists that John takes her out in the car. Becky rounds up Chesney, Roy and Kirk for a game of "Murder". Steve asks Jim to stay for Christmas dinner but Jim declines. John and Rosie pull up in a quiet spot, Rosie again tells John to dump Fiz. Darryl shows an interest in Lauren, they get talking. Fi

David continues to wind Sarah up, claiming he's put drugs in her suitcase. Angry Sarah frantically searches her case. Jerry insists on a delayed Christmas dinner now his family are all back home. Vernon is nervous of Jim as Jim wishes him all the best for the wedding. Rosie is concerned that Kevin and Sally don't want to talk to her. Eileen, Gail, Audrey and Bill say an emotional goodbye to Sarah, Jason and Bethany as they leave in Lloyd's taxi for their new life in Italy. As they pass David, Sarah blows him a triumphant kiss. Jim and Liz reminisce about a past holiday but the look in Jim's eye makes Liz nervous. Sarah proudly tells Jason how she planted the drugs on David and conned Stephen into giving her David's job in Milan. Jason's appalled and refuses to board the train. Tearful Sarah leaves with Bethany whilst Jason stays behind. Rosie tries to apologise to Fiz, telling her how John was just a bit of fun. Fiz is distraught as she tells Rosie she's ruined her life. Eileen tries to get Jason to see sense and phone Sarah. Liz confesses to Deirdre that Vernon doesn't excite her in the way Jim does and says that she's calling the wedding off. She asks Deirdre to break the news to the guests. Becky's pleased to see Jason back and secretly pleased that Sarah's gone to Italy. Jim corners Liz in the ginnel and tells her how they were always meant to be together and how Vernon isn't good enough for her. Liz is furious with him. Vernon hears a commotion in the Rovers' backyard and goes to investigate. He finds Jim and Liz arguing. Vernon tries to intervene and Jim punches him to the ground and then decks Bob, the best man. Steve has to restrain Jim whilst Liz looks on horrified. Steve's disgusted with his dad realising that he hasn't changed at all. As Liz nurses Vernon she changes her mind and realises she does want to marry him after all. She tells Steve to get hold of Deirdre and stop her from sending the guests home.

Deirdre announces that the wedding's off at a packed registry office. Everyone starts to shuffle out shocked at the news. Steve arrives in a panic and quickly announces the wedding's back on. The bemused guests file back inside. Liz and Vernon arrive for their wedding battered and bruised. The guests are shocked at the state of Vernon and assume that was the cause of the hiccup. Liz and Vernon are married. Deirdre and Dev are witnesses. At the wedding reception Liz assures Deirdre and Steve she did the right thing - Jim's violence made her appreciate Vernon's gentle nature. Carla's back from Paris and shows off to Liam saying how Tony's taking her to the Maldives. Liam sees the New Year in outside home with Maria. He suggests taking Maria on a romantic break. Maria's touched. Fiz gets totally sloshed and ends up snogging Dev as the clock strikes twelve and Becky ignores Kirk's attempt to kiss her and plants a big smacker on Jason. Fireworks light up the skies over the Street.
