Steve and Becky didn't have a very good start to the year as they continued to argue about having children. "No kid of mine would amount to any good. Not with my rotten genes!" Lewis accepted the invitation much to Audrey's delight. Finally, Steve and Becky pondered whether they had rushed into getting married and what the future would hold now that they had reached such an obstacle.

Molly tried to make amends with Tyrone on their anniversary and promised him that the second year of their marriage would be better than the first. Did she really mean it? Rosie and Sophie discussed their parents' reaction to Rosie's advert and began jumping to all sorts of conclusions as to why they were being so uptight. Sophie admitted that they had been acting strangely and concluded that they must be splitting up. Meanwhile, Norris persuaded Mary to spend the evening in the Rovers so that he could avoid being cooped up in her camper van. Norris was surprised however when Mary revealed that she'd met a man on her travels. Was he jealous? Finally, Sophie and Rosie went home to confront their parents but were shocked when Sally admitted that she had breast cancer. Sophie sobbed and told them she thought they were splitting up. "We're not splitting up. We love each other and we love you too," declared Kevin as Sally hugged the girls.

Sally is in hospital preparing for her operation and despite trying her best to put a brave face on it she tells Kevin that she is terrified she will have to have a mastectomy and what Kevin will think of her. Feeling guilty an emotional Kevin tells her she will always be beautiful to him and apologises to Sally for not being there for her when she was going through the ordeal alone, but is he really apologising for much more than that? Back at the factory the girls are feeling awful for the things they have been saying about Sally and decides to start a collection. Kelly refuses to be a hypocrite however and shocks the others with her attitude. Anna has finally persuaded Gary to have a farewell party before he leaves for basic training and is emotional as she starts to arrange everything. The doctor has arrived at Sunita's as has Matt who is most put out that Dev has been there for about an hour already. The doctor does some tests and tells a relieved Dev and Sunita that Asha is showing no signs of meningitis and just has a virus. After the doctor has gone Matt and Sunita row about the fact that Sunita called Dev before Matt. Gary's party at the Rovers is a lively affair with more than a few raised eyebrows at the themed cake Eddie has baked. David decides to continue with the army gags and manages to stick a target onto Gary's back his joke backfires though when Anna gets upset about the dangers her son is going to face in the army. Dev finds himself caught up in the middle of the Dobbs' marriage problems when he offers to help Molly and Tyrone accuses them of having an affair. Sally prepares to return to work and the factory girls try to make up for their behaviour towards her. Ryan is worried about Sian as he hasn't heard from her since her dad found out about them sleeping together.

News of Molly and Tyrone's split spreads through the street and Pam and Molly offer shoulders to cry on. An anxious Sally goes to the hospital with Kevin to get her test results. Audrey and Gail discuss how to deal with David's behaviour over the house sale.

As Sally gets her test results Kevin's guilt spills over and he takes his anger out on Sophie. Sunita has some interesting news for Dev. Sian prepares to leave Weatherfield. Joe's desperation to get some cash almost pushes him over the edge.

At The Joinery, Leanne was doing the rota and trying to make pretty sure she wasn't alone with Nick.

Tyrone put pressure on Molly saying he really wanted another baby but Molly wasn't keen. When Chesney and Katy announced they were going to get a place together, Owen was furious. Leanne and Peter started making wedding plans and Rosie gave Sally a makeover for her evening out with Kevin. In The Joinery, Carla watched Peter and Leanne jealously and proceeded to get drunk. Then Nick lured Leanne into the office and told her he couldn't bear to see her with Peter. When a bouquet was delivered to the Rovers for Liz, Owen intercepted it and, discovering it was from Jim, headed off with the flowers. Molly told Kevin that try as she might to deny her feelings, she’d fallen in love with him all over again and wanted them to be together.

Molly did her best to convince Kevin they should be a family but Kevin didn't want to hear it. To prevent Fiz calling the police, John promised to go the police station himself and hand over the letters and the DVD. But John lied to Fiz later. Molly was on the verge of telling Tyrone the truth when she was thwarted by baby Jack who'd been sick. Carla begged Peter to accompany her to court on Monday. Against his better judgement Peter agreed. Owen returned the flowers to Jim and told him to stay away from Liz. Kevin and Sally enjoyed a romantic meal at The Joinery. Kevin told Sally she looked amazing and he loved her more than ever. Nick challenged Leanne to look him in the eye and tell him she didn't want him. Leanne couldn't do it and when Nick leant in for a passionate kiss, she kissed him back. Molly lured Kevin to the garage and begged him to run away with her and baby Jack. When Kevin told her he was in love with Sally and wanted nothing more to do with her

Molly felt unable to break Tyrone's heart when he announced he intended to scatter Jack's ashes. Although it was John's birthday, he received a call from a distressed Charlotte and headed round to see her, leaving Fiz abandoned once again. Nick and Leanne enjoyed another session in The Joinery office. They were disturbed by the arrival of Ciaran but Nick managed to cover for them. Meanwhile, Ashley struggled to pluck up the courage to tell Graeme he was selling up. Michelle was left in charge of Underworld again while Carla secretly went to court on her drink-driving charge with Peter, and she received a 12-month driving ban. Fiz was visited by an old lady and when John arrived home, Fiz introduced him to Colin's mum Joy, who hadn't seen her son in months. John was alarmed to hear she had tracked him down to their door.

Kevin appeared in a foul mood and Sally wanted to know the reason why. Little did she realise his entanglement with Molly and baby Jack were the cause of his anger. John was horrified after Joy explained she'd traced his address via the teachers’ union. Fiz told of her of John's job in a bookshop and she left to try to find him. Sally saw Molly and Tyrone in the Rovers and asked them if they knew why Kevin was in such a bad mood. Joy returned and told John and Fiz that the bookshop owner had said Colin was viciously attacked and hadn't been seen since. Joy had a funny turn and Fiz felt guilty, realising she'd sent Ben Fielding after Colin. At the bar Molly warned Kevin that she couldn't continue to hide her feelings from Tyrone. Carla apologised to Peter for her attitude earlier and thanked him for supporting her. With Joy gone, Fiz was in a state and decided that Colin must be behind all the mysterious activity. John tried to dismiss the idea but Fiz declared she wou

Michelle's suspicions were aroused about Peter's relationship with Carla and she confided in Ciaran. He asked Peter what was going on and ended up winding his mate up. At the hosital, it was confirmed David was suffering from epilepsy which had caused him to crash the car running Graeme down. Now they just had the court to convince. Elsewhere, John was getting quite disturbed by Charlotte's odd behaviour. She guzzled wine as she told him they needed each other. When Charlotte fell into a drunken sleep, John had a snoop around her house and made a very interesting discovery....

John confronted Charlotte about the stalking and was surprised and thrown by her cool, calm response. She didn't deny it and had a crazy suggestion for him: "Me and Fiz sharing you." How did John react to that? Elsewhere, Gary was struggling with Quinney's death and Anna felt lost about what to do. Meanwhile, Michelle confronted Peter about Carla.

When Charlotte suggested she and Fiz should share John, he let rip at her. She got all emotional and told him he'd been leading her on! John stormed out telling her he didn't want anything to do with her - but it didn't take long for Charlotte to turn up on his doorstep agan. Meanwhile, when Peter asked Leanne why she'd missed Simon's concert at school, she was eaten up by guilt. She told Nick their affair had to stop. But would she be able to resist him? Elsewhere, Gary was still struggling after his return from Afghanistan.

Nick told Leanne how much he loved her and begged her not to marry the wrong man. Leanne struggled to remain steadfast. Michelle drove Carla home, and then pretended to drive back to the factory. Instead she parked out of sight and spotted Peter arrive and enter Carla’s flat. John went to see Charlotte, who enjoyed calling him ‘Colin’ and tried again to push him into an affair. He lost his patience with Charlotte and pinned her against the wall, which she seemed to find exhilarated. Michelle returned to Carla's flat to confront her and Peter. Carla was forced to explain about her drink problem and driving ban, and how Peter was just helping her. John arrived home and lied to Fiz that he'd spoken to Colin, who had decided to go back to Canada. Fiz is relieved but declared they must inform Colin's mum which alarmed John. Home alone, Carla broke down sobbing from all her problems and feelings for Peter.

The factory became rife with gossip about Carla's drink-driving conviction. John was fearful when Fiz arranged for Joy Fishwick to visit for news of Colin. Molly felt touched that Tyrone was determined to give his son a special Christmas, unlike those of his own childhood. Owen told Steve the Rovers had rotten joists. He offered to repair them at cost. Carla tried to talk to Peter but he gave her short shrift and set off to pick up Simon, leaving her angry. John met up with Charlotte again and she told him she couldn't handle sharing him and demanded he left Fiz. Ken looked for Peter at the Joinery but caught Nick with Leanne in a very compromising position in the office. Leanne was horrified as Ken beat a hasty retreat, unsure of what to do for the best.

Deirdre was puzzled by Ken's surly demeanour, but later she was stunned when he related his shocking discovery. Leanne told Carla how Ken walked in on her and Nick. Carla acted surprised but reminded Leanne she can only have one man. Owen and Chris started on the Rovers' repairs, then Steve got a call informing him that Jim was in hospital after being set upon by thugs. John turned up at Charlotte's, only to find she'd invited her parents and told them he was her fiancé Colin. John was appalled. Leanne tried to explain herself to Ken and Deirdre and said her fling with Nick was a big mistake and she loved Peter and Simon with all her heart. Steve and Owen visited Jim. As they were leaving, Owen discreetly whispered to Jim that he must stay away from the Rovers in future. Leanne told Carla she'd made her decision: it was Peter she loved. Carla tried to persuade her that it was really Nick but Leanne was resolute, which left Carla gutted.

The stag and hen nights get under way. Nick piles the pressure on Leanne.

An explosion rips through The Joinery as the stag party are in there. The street will never be the same again as a tram crashes from the destroyed viaduct onto the street.

Rescue attempts get under way to save a trapped Molly and baby Jack. Some of the stag party are trapped under the rubble in the Joinery. Simon is trapped in number 13.

Ashley and Nick attempt to free a trapped Peter and escape before the roof caves in. A body is hidden by John after he commits murder. Fiz finds herself caught in the crossfire.

A dying man makes one final wish. Sally risks her own life in an effort to save a friend. Gary relives his Afghanistan nightmare.

Those who have loved ones mourn whist others prepare themselves for the worst. Rita's cries for help continue not to be heard.

Becky ends up sinking to a new low. Will Tyrone find out who is responsible for tearing his family apart?

It was a sad day as Ashley was buried and Claire lost it with Nick, blaming him for the tram crash.
